Trithiocyanuric Acid Trisodium Salt (TMT) CAS 17766-26-6

Product name: Trithiocyanuric Acid Trisodium Salt (TMT)

CAS No.: 17766-26-6

EINECS No.: 241-749-5

Molecular Formula: C3N3Na3S3

Molecular Weight: 243.22

Purity: 55%, 15%

General:

Trithiocyanuric Acid Trisodium Salt (TMT) is a highly efficient, water-soluble chelating agent primarily used for the precipitation of heavy metals from industrial wastewater. Our facility principally manufactures two specifications: TMT-15 (liquid) and TMT-55 (powder). Solubility: Easily soluble in water. Stability: Should be stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area to prevent thermal decomposition or deterioration. This product forms insoluble and stable complexes with both monovalent and divalent metal ions; compared to traditional sulfur-based treatment agents, it offers safer handling and significantly more effective results.

Advantages:

High Efficiency: Exhibits exceptional chelating capabilities toward a wide range of heavy metals, including mercury, copper, cadmium, silver, lead, nickel, and tin.

Safety: Compared to traditional heavy metal precipitants—such as Sodium Dimethyldithiocarbamate (SDTC) or Sodium Sulfide—TMT demonstrates lower toxicity and offers safer handling.

Storage and Handling: TMT-55 is a white solid, while TMT-15 is a pale yellow liquid. During storage, the product must be kept away from oxidizing agents and acidic substances to prevent decomposition and degradation.

Application Fields:

Heavy Metal Removal: Widely applied in coal-fired power plants, municipal solid waste incineration facilities (fly ash treatment), electroplating operations, chemical manufacturing, and related industries.

Contaminated Soil Remediation: Used to immobilize heavy metals within soil matrices, thereby preventing their migration and dispersion.

Removal of Complexed Metals: Capable of efficiently decomposing and removing heavy metals that have already formed complexes within wastewater.

Applications:

Trisodium Trithiocyanurate is particularly well-suited for the treatment of heavy metal-containing wastewater generated by electroplating plants, battery manufacturing facilities, photographic laboratories, as well as other chemical, electronics, and metallurgical industries. It demonstrates excellent removal efficacy against most monovalent and divalent heavy metal ions. Furthermore, it is widely utilized for the solidification/stabilization of heavy metal ions found in fly ash, as well as for the remediation of heavy metal-contaminated soils.
