Pyrithione Sodium SPT biocide

Pyrithione Sodium is the sodium salt form of pyrithione, a fungistatic and antimicrobial derivative of aspergillic acid. Sodium Pyrithione is with chemical name of 1-hydroxy-2(IH)-pyridineselonato sodium. CAS Number is 3811-73-2. Purity is 98% and 40%.

Sodium pyrithione is currently the most effective water-soluble industrial mildew preservative, with high efficiency, broad spectrum, low toxicity and stability. Although the exact mechanism of action remains to be fully elucidated, pyrithione sodium appears to interfere with membrane transport ultimately leading to a loss of metabolic control.
